How did that happen?
Soooo let’s look back about 8 weeks…
My right foot started hurting what seemed like out of no where. I just ignored the pain for a few days and went about my business, until about a few days before Christmas when I finally realized something must be wrong, but ehhhh it’s probably nothing. I survive through Christmas (with it swelling up like a balloon and the pain bringing me to tears). So the day after Christmas I call around to see if anyone can see me a.s.a.p. and get lucky to be seen on New Years Eve (I am about 2 weeks in to this already). I continue to limp around until my Dr appt. He takes a look at it and asks me what has been going on and how it has been feeling. He did not seem too concerned until I told him that my foot swelled up like balloon and the pain was CRAZY. He took some x-rays and notified me that I have broken my sesamoid bone and that I would be wearing a sexy shoe for the next month to keep pressure off the front of my foot. I wore the shoe for the most part and even though felt some improvement, the pain would come back when I was on my foot for a period of time (I also mastered standing on the side of my foot during the first two weeks into the injury) so that might have been another reason why my foot felt a little better.
Any who – 4 weeks comes and goes and I go in for my follow up. He pulls and pushes and examines things some more and suggests that the bone is not healing and that in his opinion the best thing to do is to remove the broken off piece of the bone, but sends me in for an MRI just to be 100% sure (to decide how much of the bone needs to be removed). I get a call on Friday advising me that I will be having surgery on Wednesday February 4th and he gives me some details about the pre-op part of things and the nurse advised me that I will be receiving a call from the hospital with more details. This is all good and dandy, but I have never had surgery before and to say that I feel like crapping my pants from fear is sugar coating things.
I mean I know I will be fine and I do not plan on dying or anything, but the fear of the pain afterwards is scaring the crap out of me. He assured me that he will drug me up very well and that I will be comfortable, but I mean what does being comfortable mean? The fact that my foot is going to have a nice gash on the side of it is inevitable and when it comes to pain Poontater is a wimp. Oh and my crazy a$$ is planning on being back at work the following Monday – for now that seems like a good idea, but I might need to check my self in to the loony bin after the fact.
Well, for now that is what is UP with me and I will make sure to update through out the process.
This makes me giddy…
I am definitely one of the odd one’s out there – see I LOVE cold weather. The colder the better and if it snows, well that is just a HUGE bonus. This is what we are looking at in the next few days and tee hee… I am super excited.
