Goal #13 and #14 – Photo Class
By Alev on 14th November, 2007 | No Comments
Sooo my lovely DH (dear husband for those who are not familiar with the blog lingo) arranged for me to take a photography class with a friend of ours. His name is Victor and he takes amazing pictures http://www.rockpark.com/
I learned all about my new camera and about different lenses. I now have my heart set on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens and have added it to the top of my Christmas List. Here is a picture I took using my new skills and the 50mm lens.

I just finished making Sugar’s very large and girlie doggie bed. It was a little back breaking, but totally worth it.

Water for Elephants (book #1 from my 101 list)
By Alev on 6th November, 2007 | No Comments
As a young man, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an untrainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival.
